Question:
Lost Fast the First week...now whats happening?
I lost 14 pounds my first week, now I am 2 weeks out and only lost 5 pounds this last week. I am barely able to eat anything. I know I am eating now all day what I would have consumed in one meal before surgery. I just was curious if anyone had suggestions on what I could do to get the numbers rolling again! I think maybe your expectations need readjusting. First, it is almost
always the case that the first week is met with a great loss. However,
listen to what you have said. You ONLY lost 5 pounds in a week's time and
you feel this isn't enough? That amount of loss is amazing! Whenever have
you lost 5 pounds in the second week of a "diet"? I recommend
sticking to whatever you have been doing and realize a 5 pound loss means
the numbers ARE still rolling. Be sure to drink and keep plugging along. I
applaud your successful start to your journey. Shelley

Right after surgery your body is adjusting to everything you've done to it.
You don't need to kick start anything to get the numbers rolling this
early in the game. Just make sure to get all your water in...eat what they
tell you...and if you can...walk walk walk. I threw away my scale because
I tended to obsess about every ounce that wasn't coming off.

I agree with Shelley. What did you really expect? 25lbs in 2 weeks? 30lbs?
From watching these boards for 2 years, and as an 11 mo postie, I can tell
you the 25lbers in 2 weeks are not the average, even 20lbrs are not the
average. Many people lose 15-20 in 4 weeks. Check the weight loss planner
on this website and you will see that you are losing at a normal rate.

Roxanne, you better learn patience right now or it will be a rough and
disatisfying road ahead for you. Do not compare your weight loss to anyone
else. We all lose differently, even those who start out with the same
exact height/weight/age stats. Its just how it is-some are fast losers and
some are slow, but we all get there. Just follow the docs orders/diet and
relax.

Roxanne I'm 55 days Post-Op I did not weigh myself after my 10 day check up
- but I know one of these reasons you might see a slower lost for a few
days is swelling, fluids and as someone stated your body getting over the
shock of the surgery. Not to mention gas! It took 4-6 weeks before my
swelling went away. Then I learned from other members not to set myself up
by weighing myself - and on my 4 weeks check up I had lost nearly 40 pounds

Thanks Everyone...I guess I dont know what I was thinking...I know not to
compare myself w/ others as we are all different. My Dr. was happy with my
progress with is all I need to know that I am doing well. Its just that so
many of us were so used to failure that I was afraid that would happen
AGAIN! Thanks again to all of you!
