Question:
I have larger legs and I am worried that I always will!

My legs have always been the biggest part of my body and I am afraid that after weightloss they still will be. I am looking for any helpful tips as to what I can do to aide this, or if it will just happen on its own! Any tips will be greatly appreciated!! Everyone is different. I always had carried my weight in my thighs, hips and butt. Even when I was thin, before the weight gain, I was always larger there. After I lost all my weight with surgery...I have no butt and the thights are all normal now. I don't know why....that's just the way it happened. Actually I have always had a small waist and now it seems that is where it is the most difficult to get the fat off. Odd. Best of luck to you.

I had huge leggs and they trimmed right down. In clothing they are in proportion to my body. The bad thing is they look awful because they are so saggy. I have to be honest though and tell you I didn't exercise like I should have. I have heard that if you have large leggs you should avoid heavy legg exercise that builds muscle because you don't want them to bulk up bigger. Things like walking ane running are good but stair stepping while great exercise can bulk up the size of your leggs. Someone that has thinner leggs might want to do those exercises. I have made a deal with some girls at work to utilize our office fitness room every day after work starting January. So we shall see how that goes. Don't worry to much you will be amazed at how your leggs shrink. Carrie

Just wanted to say that I had huge legs when I started. Now I have very skinny legs. I think walking was the best exercise I could do for my legs. It worked out great. 215/136/125 6/11/03 Janice

I have really found that a lot of biking has made a HUGE difference in the size of my legs. Now I wear mini skirts to show them off ;)

If you see my first pre-op pic in my profile. I had pretty large legs too- now- they are quite thin..But VERY VERY saggy and wrinkly- I carried MOST of my weight right in my stomach- and even though I am 5'8" and now of a "normal" weight- I still have a HUGE belly with LOTS and LOTS of hanging skin- JUST BE MENTALLY PREPARED that you WILL lose weight, but for some, the skin left over is quite bad. I wish someone would have prepared me just a little bit better for what would be "left over" At least clothing hides it...Best wishes Kim

I had surgery 6-30-03 so far as of last week have lost 132 pounds that is in less then 6 mo. anyways I bike ride everyday at the gym in 20 min. I go 4 sometimes 5 miles depending on haw fast I ride. I tell ya there is a BIG difference in my leg and whole body. I walk, ride the bike and weight training, for toning THAT has really helped ALL over. I do not have any problems with skin really as of yet. I am 34 yrs., 5 ft. 9, started weight 381 now 249 and still going. If you do not use HEAVY weight you will not bulk up. I have a personal trainer that really helps. Good luck to you. But you must do this at least 5 days a week well at least I do and it is working and I LOVE it! Aerobics is great also

I think I have lost just about as many inches on each thigh as I have in my waist! As a matter of fact I can finally stand with my feet together and still have 1+ inches inbetween my thighs!

Roxanne... I've ALWAYS had bigger calves and thighs and at this point, starting at 390lbs and now having lost 126lbs, I'm starting to see a difference in them. My calves always before felt almost "tight" is the only way I could describe them, but now, they are thinning out and feeling a bit "looser." My thighs are slimming down too although that's taking a little more time. Best wishes to you and God bless you as you make your journey!! Amy
