Yes, I believe it's done at the Rutherford Institution in Durham, NC at
Duke University. From the last time I read, it's still somewhat
controversial, but definitely looking into. You may want to search the web
under "mini gastric bypass." All the best.

Or look on the ASBS.org site and look at the loop gastric bypass. The Mason
Loop (which was abandoned by its creator) and the Bilroth II (also
abandoned) are the names that most closely approximte the mgb.

Yes. I just had a mini gastric bypass on November 18th. Everything went
wonderful, and I am doing great. In the hospital for two days, had it done
laproscopically. Email me if you have any more specific questions.

Yes I have heard of IT. I was original from NC where Dr. Rutldge does this
proceedure. I would research the internet. If you have this procedure,
chances are you will be self pay (most major insurance companyies DO NOT
pay for this procedures) Also, note the doctor was investigated for
insurance fraud. Also NOTE if you are one of those that have complications
(the mini can give you ACID problems) you might have a hard time finding a
doctor that will 'fix' (revise you) My wls surgeon had a few 'rutledge'
patients.. with major problems. they came to him after numerous other
doctors refused to help. IF you looking into the mini JUST for short recoop
time; I would suggest you look into the lap band instead.

Me again. I had the surgery in Sioux Falls South Dakota. I have Mayo
Management insurance and they did cover it. And my surgeon does do
revisions or reversals if complication arise. I am pretty sure that there
is no insurance fraud going on as my surgery was cheaper then some of the
others on this site. Just wanted to put my two cents in again.

The questionable surgeon is in North Carolina. Some reputable docs have
the same name for the procedure, so just do a ton of research on that doc
before you go under the knife. That particular doc is the only one in the
country doing it. That's the one insurance won't cover. That should tell
you something. Also, if it was that great, they'd all be doing it. Buyer
beware!
