Question:
I have developed phantom gum pain 1 month post op. Does anyone else have this? and
what did you do about it? The dr doesnt want be to take nsaids like aleve or motrin which seems to be the only things that work. He says this may be coming from dehydration, so I have increased my fluid. I have no sores, and my bite is perfect. I have a horrible gum pain that gets worse at night. Please help! Ps, vioxx, celebrex and bexrta the new coxIII inhibitors don't help either. — Karel (posted on December 11, 2003)

Have you tried flossing the area? If it's not that depending on where it is
you may be clenching and grinding at night...or worst case you may have an
abcess beginning. Have you been to the dentist? I work in a dds office and
we have a lot of pts call with this problem and it is usually 1 of the 3.
until you figure out what it is try rinsing with warm salt water. hope you
feel better soon!

i have the same kinda pain for a long time. i went to the dentist and he
couldnt find anything wrong with my teeth and made me feel like i was
crazy. i stil had really bad pain (the kind that makes ya want to cry).
went to pcp and he diagnosed me with tmj, says its from stress and grinding
my teeth aat night. gave me flaxil and it works but it knocks me out. maybe
you should check with your pcp.

Is the pain only on one side of your mouth possibly even top and bottom?
I've had this several times many years ago. My doctor discovered I had a
blocked eustatian tube, it connects the inner ear and the throat. I had to
take antibiotics to clear up an ear infection. Good Luck!
