In the beginning I only had one a week. You are not eating much hon, It
will be much better when you start eating a bit more. Now at 10 weeks post
op open RNY I eat half an apple if I am constipated and increase my
walking..but it is way to early for you to have an apple..Best of luck to
you but dont forget to walk walk walk and get those fluids in that helps
get you regular too

Try to increase your fluid and food intake. Start off with your protein
shake(s) first. These usually help. I used Carnation Instant Breakfast.
However, Milk of Magnesia is what works for me still. Good luck and Happy
Thanksgiving!

Like the previous poster said, I wouldn't worry too much about the first 2
or 3 weeks. However, my nutritionist has me take Benefiber on a daily
basis. That's what keeps me on a regular every-other-day pattern. Good
luck and have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

Using meds to help things along should not be used long term. Drink lots of
water. I could always tell when I didn't get enough. Also some juices are
suppose to help so try those too.

I'm almost 12 mos out, and have had this problem continually due to my
surgeon correcting severe adhesions in my intestines during my procedure.
Like the others have suggested, be sure that you are drinking enough
fluids. Second, it was suggested that I use oat bran or wheat bran on a
daily basis. During the first few weeks, this is really tasty on top of a
serving of split pea soup. My primary care physician also suggested (and
this is as you get further along) glycerine suppositories. Don't worry if
you are not going every other day. Remember, you're not eating like you
used to. Only expect a BM about once a week at first... then about once
every three days. I only use the suppositories if I feel something is
there but failing to finish the trip on it's own accord (if you know what I
mean).
Good Luck. Happy Holidays.
