Crabcakes and crackers don't sound anything like pureed food to me. Pureed means you've run it through a blender so it's almost liquid. At less than 2 weeks out you really should be following your doctor's instructions. If you are unable to follow the directions they gave you, maybe you should look into getting some help with dealing with that. (therapy) Best of luck to you!

Hi again, Tanya! I was on full liquids for 6 weeks after surgery. During that time, I was not allowed to have crackers or meat, only things that were of mashed potato-like consistency, like oatmeal, grits, eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. I think I was allowed to have pureed foods, but I've never liked stuff run through the blender, so I didn't do any of that.
It sounds like you're doing great with your water and protein, but I would be very careful with the type of food you're eating. You wouldn't want to get your stoma blocked, or end up damaging your new pouch and staples. It could result in an ulcer or worse, and I can tell you from first-hand experience that ulcers are NOT fun. Remember, you just had major surgery 13 days ago, and it it still raw and healing. It's good that you haven't had any problems with these foods, but please be careful and try to stick to your surgeon's plan as much as possible.

Good luck!

I was allowed "soft" foods when I was discharged from the hospital, including crackers with peanut butter. No cheese.

At 2 weeks out I was doing carnation instant breakfast (no sugar added kind), soups, cottage cheese or anything I could run through a blender and liquify. I wasn't allowed cheese, crab crackers or anything like that til I was about 6 weeks out. Please follow your doctor's orders. Your stomach needs time to heal so you won't have problems later. Cheers!

Posts like this make me glad i didn't have a pureed food stage, lol. I had real solid food..doctors orders in the hospital from day 3! They brought me mashed potatoes and ground beef with peas. I couldn't eat more then a bite or two but thats what I had. 174 pounds later I don't feel that it has hurt my weight loss one bit. That said I feel everyone should follow doctors orders and what you listed in my oponion doesn't count as pureed unless you run them through the food processer first and pureed them. Good luck.
