Question:
I'm 1 week out and having a hard time with not being able to sleep
on my stomach so for now I'm sleeping on the sofa. When were you able to sleep lying on your stomach. — Tanya W. (posted on November 18, 2003)

I am 8 days post opt and I slept in my bed for the first time last night. I
slept on my side . I put pillows on my stomach and behind my back. I got
more sleep .

I am two weeks post-op today (surgery 11/4). I have always been a stomach
sleeper too, so I can sympathize. When I first came home, I had a couple
of days when I couldn't even switch sides without waking up in pain, but
for the last couple of days I haven't had any problems sleeping on my
stomach. I make sure that I sort of "prop" myself with one leg
bent, and have been very comfortable.

Hello. I am 10 weeks post-op and still not comfortable sleeping on my
stomach.

This is definitely a personal thing because everyone is different. I slept
in bed immediately without extra pillows to prop me up. I was on my side
the day I came home (2 days post) & on my stomach shortly thereafter.
I've had abdominal surgeries before and it was months before I could even
move to the side let alone be on the stomach.
Good luck!

I am 3 1/2 months post op and still not comfortable sleeping on my stomach
and I always slept on my stomach before surgery. I have heard it can take
up to a year to feel better but it is dependant on the person. For now I
am just sleeping on my side.

I am 3 1/2 months post op. I did not sleep in my bed for 2 weeks after
surgery. Thank goodness for recliners :) So I can sympathize with you. I
can lay on my tummy now but I am a side sleeper so I do not stay on it for
long.
