Question:
Approval

Has any of you had any problems with getting approved with Empire BCBS? I have had several weight lost attempts, a supervised attempt, and I I have been exercising. My BMI is 49. I also have high blood pressure, and problems with concieving and having a normal period. It has been about 3 weeks since my surgeon sent in my letter...so what do you think? I have Blue Cross and had to nag them to finally say they got my paperwork (I think they like to take their own sweet time but they said they didn't receive it twice so I called them everyday until they got it into their computer system, which took over 3 weeks). I was told they finally got it into the computer on a Friday and I was approved on that next Monday. I had a beginning BMI of 40 with no real comorbities so I would suggest you contact your insurance co and see if they have received to packet. If they say they have not, have your surgeon's office fax it to them then call them every day until they finally acknowledge they have it. Good luck to you and God bless.
