Inamed is currently making the band used in the United States and Mexico at
this time. I believe it is also the band that is used in Europe and
Australia. Ethicon purchased the Swedish band and is in the process of
doing clinical trials with it in the U.s. It's basically the same band and
the same procedure. Hope this info helps some.

Rona is correct that the Inamed Lap-Band is what you'll probably get if you
get banded in North America. However,
there are a few Mexican surgeons who use the Swedish or Mid-Band. I'd
suggest going with the Lap-Band even if you have a choice of the other
ones, since that is the one that United States surgeons will be familiar
with if you intend to get your fills in the USA. I have the Inamed lap-band
and I'm pleased with it, but I know of others who are doing just fine with
the other types of bands, so I'd say any choice will probably work out just
fine. Good luck. :)
