Question:
Does anyone know what this means? Medical Explanation Needed
I have been having abdominal pains on my right side below my ribs. I went to my surgeon and for testing and was told it is a "right base infiltrate" or "minimal occupancy in the right base". Can anyone tell me what this means? My surgeon sent my results to my family doctor but he is on vacation for 2 weeks. The receptionist said it may have something to do with the anastesia. — AmyWollet (posted on November 7, 2003)

HI YOU MAY WANT TO TRY THE NURSING HOTLINE IN YOUR CITY OR CALL THE
HOSPITAL & TALK TO A NURSE. BY THE WAY, DID YOU CALL THE SURGEON BACK
& ASK EITHER HIM OR HIS NURSE? THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL YOU. GOOD
LUCK

In plain english it means that the bottom part of your right lung is not
clear. It is infiltrated. This can be caused by many different things,
pneumonia for one and yes it can be brought on by a reaction to the
anesthesia. 2 weeks...I think u should see someone before that.

Hello. Thank you for all the responses. My doctors office called and
referred me to another doctor. I have an appt. on Monday. She said it is
pneumonia. Thanks again.
