Question:
Has anyone been lactose intolerant BEFORE surgery, but not after?
I was lactose intolerant for years... until my gastric-bypass surgery! Now, I have NO problems with any dairy products. Has this happened to anyone? Lactose intolerant friends of mine say this is impossible -- but I swear, I used to get violently ill after dairy and now, post-surgery, I can eat cheese, milk, etc.. with no problem! — Joanna S. I have not had surgery yet..but I have been following Atkins for about a
year and a half and have always had to run to the room after sour cream and
heavy cream..but now on very low carbs and high protein (which is what you
have to do after wls) I havent a prob..I think its the carbs..

Oddly enough, this has happened to my husband, who is post
RNY. He can now eat cheese and yogurt with no problems.

Since my operation, I have had no problem with dairy. I would get
headaches and stomach problems before.
