Question:
how long did your insurance co make you wait to approve abdominal plasty?
I have anthem, I have lost 130lbs. I am having a hard time with the weight from my tummy, Anthem says I have to wait 18 months, I wonder if they want me to stop exercising until then? fustrated!! — Kelli Miller-Freeman (posted on October 19, 2003)

Why on earth would you or they want you to stop exercising until then?
Good strong stomach muscles will mean less likelihood of needing muscle
work done when they do the abdominoplasty. My insurance doesn't put a time
frame on it persay...its when we've stopped losing consistently for a
couple of months AND have medical need for the work.

I also have Anthem and I had my tt at 9 months post-op. How close are you
to your goal weight? If you've still got a lot to lose this may be the
reason. However, they might not feel that your weight has stabilized. I
was at 140 when I had mine done. I only ended up losing another 15 pounds
after that.

I was right at a year post-op when I went in for my consults. It took 3-4
weeks for approval. I also have Anthem. I then decided to get a second
opinion and it only took a couple of weeks to get that one approved thru
the new dr. I ended up not having the abdominoplasty because I found out I
was pregnant.
