I had a VBG in APril 2001 and I have been having the same problems you are.
I am having a revision to an RNY on 28 Oct 03. I was approved in 2 days
by my insurance. All of this has come about in the last 2 weeks. Pretty
fast! I don't know how your insurance works but mine was great. I have
FirstCare Federal. FirstCare is a Texas company. It has certainly been
worth the premiums. I wish you all the best in your journey to get a
revision. Check your policy to see if there are any clauses that state
that the surgery for obesity is a once in a lifetime deal. Mine only said
that you had to be 100lbs or 100% above the health standards. Good Luck! -

Hey
even though I don't have the same insurance as you, I looked into revisions
for my insurance (medicare) because my girlfriend had a vbg in feb 2003 and
she needs a revision to a rny and she has the same coverage. they cover
revisions if you fit the criteria for the original operation. You don't
have to fit the criteria currently, you just had to fit it when you were
originally approved.
I would suggest you calling your insurance company and asking for a copy of
their policy with regards to the wls its inclusions and exclusions. I am
lucky, mine is available right online for everyone to view.
Good luck and I will keep you in my prayers.
I hope everything works out, keep us posted.
