Question:
Would you have WLS again. YES or NO??

Without giving it a second thought. This is the most liberating thing I
have ever done.

I would have surgery again without thinking twice. I am so grateful
everyday for what this surgery has done for me. Lap RNY 1/28/2003 down
110lbs.

Absolutely, positively, hands down, YES!!

200 pounds gone in 14 1/2 months, zero complications, minor side-effects
and a renewed interested in life, my family and myself...I would definitely
do this again!

I can't say YES loud enough or with enough emphasis. I am THRILLED with my
surgery.. my life.. EVERYTHING.

Sign me up! I have never been so healthy in my life. I can move easily, I
can go places, I'm not so self-conscious, I smile more, I enjoy the
solitude of my morning walks, I love being able to wear clothes in regular
sizes, I can take laundry from the basement to the second floor without
stopping to rest, I now have regular-looking feet (as opposed to
"Flintstone feet"), I don't have to face the embarrassment of
having to ask for a seatbelt extender when I fly to New Orleans next week,
I no longer look around the room to see if I'm the biggest person there,
I'm thinking about dating again, I'm enjoying people being happy for me
(gasp for breath...). I would do this over and over again.

This is a hard question....I am almost 3 months postop and have lost 57lbs.
Though I love the weight loss - all the stuff you go through can be
difficult. If people are honest they will say that at the beginning they
had serious doubts they did the right thing. As time goes on and the
pounds melt away and you feel better - most would do it again in a
heartbeat. I am just not there yet but I am sure will be.

Hi Janeen: I asked the same question...over & over again in the months
before I made my final decision to have WLS. The answers were for the most
part...resoundingly...YES. I am 6 months post-op. I have fears EVERY DAY
that I will not reach goal or that this will fail for me....In my
nightmares, I am in that small percentage of post-ops that don't lose
enough or gain it all back (though I've never heard of anyone gaining it
all back). I wake up every day wondering, worrying. But you know what? 6
months later, and 90+ pounds later, I think my answer would also have to
be....resoundingly...YES! In a 1/2 a heartbeat even!

YES, YES, and YES AGAIN!! And iff I had to have it done every year, I
would. And regardless of what a previous poster has said, from the very
begining (the minute I woke up in recovery) I've never had a single doubt
or regret. Not one and I'm being completely honest with you and myself.
Every day I thank God for this surgery and how glad I am that I had it.
I'll be six months out on Oct. 14th and I can't put down in print how happy
I am. My health is so much better, I'm shopping like I've never done
before, I'm so much more social than I was prior to surgery. Good luck to
you in whatever decision you make.

Not only would I but I did. First one was September 30, 1999. Second one
was 05/22/03. So YES YES YES

YES! It's normal to second guess your decision early in the recovery. Once
you've lost weight and see how great you look and feel, you'll know you
made the right decision.

There have been times that i do not digest everything properly. However, my
one regret is that I didnt have this surgery done 10 years ago. I fallen
into ME and without sounding like an EGOMANIAC, I love how I am starting to
look and love the person who I am. So the answer is YES!!! Without thinking
twice, I would have this surgery.

Yes and now that I am 6 mos post-op I wish I did it sooner!

I'm another one of the oddballs who has not for one second, questioned or
regretted this decision. I had done my research (for many many months) and
I knew what to expect. My surgeon even spoke to me about how it's common
for people to have those initial feelings of "what the xxxx did I do
to myself?" I am happy to say that I didn't even have those feelings.
I'd do it again in a minute. I've had -0- complications, thrown up only a
handful of times (because I didn't chew well enough) and can tolerate
anything that I've attempted to eat (I've not attempted anything with sugar
- I don't want to know if I don't dump). I've only lost 50 pounds in
almost 4 months, but that's o.k. too. If my weight loss stopped now, I
wouldn't be happy, but I know that I definitely feel so much better than I
did 50 pounds ago and that in itself is worth it.

YES! YES! YES! I also wish I would have done it sooner :o)

October 6, 2003
I have absolutely no regrets and am happier than I've been my entire life.
The only person I've ever heard of who had regrets was a lady who thought
she'd get her husband back if she lost weight, heh. Having this surgery
won't change ANYONE ELSE, for sure, but it will sure change you.

Probally although I would'nt give a definate yes. I figured I had to have
wls as I could'nt carry 319 lbs anylonger. However I have NO ENERGY
whatsoever, and my arthritus is much much worse. Plus I'm having many other
problems from wls. I don't know. I guess I'd still do it IF I could have
seen the future. Just wish I felt alive.

YES!!!!! I wish it had been avaliable to me as a teenager.
I had my surgery at age 53, 2 yrs ago, I have now lost 110 lbs
and I feel like a normal human being, not someone that people
think they can stare at and make comments about. Obesity is
about the last remaining prejudice left where people think they
can speak freely and not think they hurt feelings. I would do this
surgery over and over and over despite all the problems I had
in the beginning.

I had 4 surgeries: The original lap RNY in January, two more laps for
adhesions, and an open revision. I was in and out of the hospital a lot
over a 3-month period. But I'm sitting here in 31-inch-waist jeans today,
at 169 pounds, and there's more of me gone than remaining (I've lost 181
pounds). Would I do it again? In a New York Minute!!!
— [Deactivated Member]
October 6, 2003
Would I do it again???? Not in a million years. I am one of the very and I
mean very few that would not do it again. I really did not have any
complications and have had the normal bout with trial and error on food.
But in all reality I feel no better than I did before surgery and am not
any happier. I had no health problems and had this surgery to prevent any
future health risks as heart and diabetes run in my family. But if I could
have seen the future for me on this journey my answer would have been no.

In a heartbeat!! This surgery has given me back my life - what
non-Hodgkins lymphoma and associated problems from 1995 to 2002 took
away...JR (open RNY 07/17/02 -201# since surgery, -214# total, 13# til

I FEEL GREAT!

October 6, 2003
YES! In a half a heartbeat! It has truly been a turning point in my
health problems. It's solved most of them. I've regained the feeling I
lost in my right leg and foot. I'm off high blood pressure meds. I'm off
asthma medication. I'm off arthritis medication. Even my allergies aren't
as severe. I'm about 25 lbs. from my goal. Just hope I can get there,
maintain it long-term and stay healthy.

This is the best thing I ever could have done for myself and my family. I
feel great, and love the compliments although sometimes it makes me a
little self conscious. I was at synagogue this A.M. and one of my
acquaintances there said I looked great, and said she hoped I was feeling
well. I told her all about the surgery and she was thrilled for me. I
thought it was the niceset way anyone had inquired if I was feeling well
and losing the weight healthily. I feel like a spokesperson for WLS, but
am clear to say I was lucky in my recovery, and that you have to do alot of
research. It isn't always easy, and is not for everyone. Good luck to
you!!!!

Yes! Yes! A million times, Yes! I should have done this years ago. What a

I would have this surgery yearly if I had to. (thank God I don't have to!!)
This his been a real life saver for me and it has given me a life that is
really worth living. Before I just existed in that big sweaty , bloated ,
tired , sick , hideous body.

I was just wondering if the people who said No would care to elaborate any,
for those people still choosing.

October 6, 2003
At 7 weeks out, I would say yes, I'd do it again. I'm already down 35 lbs
and at least one clothes size. I do wish I'd been prepared for the
tiredness and weakness I'm experiencing, though. However, my joints are
not aching nearly as much now and I can walk farther now than I could since
long before surgery. So even with my few complications, I would still say
yes.

No way. I have had problems with the anastomosis closing up. Endoscopy
hasn't helped (but in all fairness, I've only had 1). Too much pain,
vomiting, and spaciness. Only 22 days out, though. I'll let you know if I
feel differently next year. lol.

Funny you ask this question...I was just thinking this am, is it worth it.
I mean, I am thrilled to be in a size 6, but am having terrible stomach
(ulcer) pains after forgetting only two days of my Nexium. I dunno, I
guess if I could have done it on my own, I don't think I would opt for WLS
(who would?) but it is hard to be so "Rah! Rah! WLS" when you
have problems you NEVER had before, no matter how minor.
