Question:
Do you still have chocolate cravings when P.M.S.ing?
Ok, ladies just a quick question. Now when I PMS I need chocolate, not that I feel I want it, I NEED it. Anyone else out there that was the same pre-op, and what happened to your NEED post-op? Thanks a bunch — vllgmz4 (posted on October 3, 2003)

Goodness, I was a chocoholic pre-op and that did not change post-op!
Theres evidence out there that shows that craving chocolate at that time of
the month is hormonal and happens to many of us...

My cravings for chocolate never decreased postop. Just try to find a
substitute for it when you HAVE to have it. They make chocolate for
diabetics but those alcohol sugars probably won't be good for you. See if
you can find an artificially sweetened chocolate that will be good enough
to satisfy your cravings. Once you start losing weight it will seem worth
it (hopefully). :0) Some people who don't have the NEED for chocolate
just don't really understand how strong it can be. I feel for ya. S

Pre-op there were some months that all I could think about all day long was
chocolate (and pop) until I had it! And I thought it was just me and lack
of 'will power'. Anyway, before surgery, I cut out all coffee and then pop
and now, I don't seem to really 'crave' anything anymore. I do find that I
am much hungrier and munchier at that time of the month, and have healthy
snacks on hand just in case. Although, I do probably consume more
'chocolate'....if you can really even call it that....by drinking my
protein supp. and having an occasional protein bar...so maybe that helps
too.

Do not go crazy with the chocolate cravings, there is to much out there
that you can have during that time. I have a Carb Solutions chocolate bar
or chocolate bar with almonds, or Hershey's now has actually s/f chocolate
bars, and Reeses peanut butter cups, you can also get s/f fudge bars that
are great, shop around you would be surprised how much is out there that
you can have.

Estela, I am in the same boat. I satisfy my NEED with mini Detour protein
bars and some fudge protein bars that I make that have protein and splenda.
I haven't felt denied for these past six and a half months. Ann in TX

Hershey's sugar-free reese's or dark specials keep me sane (and others
alive lol) during this critical time each month :>)

I eat chocolate 1x a month. :)
It is one piece. ie One Hershey's Kiss or one PIECE of a Hershey's bar. I
suck on it instead of chewing it. Makes it last a long time. And is quite
yummy. It's one piece so doesn't make me dump and doesn't affect weight
loss.

I keep a drawer full of chocolate in my desk at work. I eat them whenever
I have a craving. I do notice it's worse when I'm PMS'ing. However, it
hasn't hurt my weight loss because I only eat a couple of bites and then
the craving is satisfied.

My craving for chocolate is gone....I dump on sugar, so I guess my body
knows its not going to get any chocolate, now I crave salty snacks, I just
try and stick with baked chips or pretzels. 317/188/170

Thanks to all of you. It's good to know that if I NEED some chocolate it
will still be possible to have some. For now I like to think of myself as a
controlled chocoholic. I can pretty much go all month without until ....
Dum, duh, dum, dum ...It's PMS time. Again just wanted to say thanks a bunch.
