Question:
Anyone have nausea, vomiting, & abd pain 9 mos post-op requring another surgery?

I am now 9 months post-op and have had nausea every day since 2 wks post-op. sometimes I get vomiting, then have to go to hosp. for IV fluids and meds. When I was 3 months post-op the abd pain started, Ihave had 3 endoscopies now and the ulcers I had (according from the first 2)have since healed. I asked for a surgical consult the last time I was in the hosp., and was told that he felt I had a herniation of the intestine through an opening that was created during the original surgery to attached the intestine to the pouch. Nothing will show this on x-rays, CT's,etc, because it is behind the stomach, so he will have to do an exploratory to find the problem and then fix it. I am scheduled for that surgery October 8, 2003, but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and the corrective surgery?    — Marie B. (posted on September 20, 2003)

You might check out gar westlakes profile, she had similiar problems after a surgical error that I believe connected her intestines backward. Hopefully yours isnt like that and they get you fixed up real son.

At 10 weeks post-op, I also developed the same problem. I also had scar tissue that wrapped itself around the hernia and made a complete bowel obstruction. The pain was terrible! I had to have emergency surgery to correct it. I was in the hospital for 5 days. I am now home 2 weeks and slowly healing after developing a leak in my incision that has to heal. My wls surgery was done lap, so now I am learning how to deal with an open incision. It takes a lot longer to get back on your feet. I am back to my "normal" diet again and that helps to get more energy. You will feel a lot better having this corrected. It will not take care of itself. Please email me if you need support. Good luck!
