Question:
Has anyone gotten pregnant before the 12-18 months post op that is recommended?
I am just interested in finding out if anyone has gotten pregnant 7 plus months after surgery and been ok? If so, did you gain a ton of weight? Did the weight come off after surgery? I know that the recommended time is 12-18 months which I plan on waiting, but I was just wondering what happens if you don't wait? — Philippa F. (posted on September 2, 2003)

There are many post-ops who became pregnant before the 18 month suggested
waiting period. Go to yahoo groups, OSSG-pregnancy, to talk to those who
can better relate to your question. I do know that the earlier post-op you
are, the more at high risk you are and in requirement of pre-natal care by
a specialist.

Today is your lucky day! There's a new poster on the message board - Lynn
Gallego I believe is her name. She just had a baby 9 months ago and it was
not long after her WLS journey began. I'm sure she'd be happy to give you
information on what it was like to get pregnant post-WLS. Good luck to
you!

I know someone who got pregnant before the recommended amount of time and
was a high risk pregnancy due to difficulty maintaining her nutritional
needs and that of a growing fetus...
