Question:
What should I take to the hospital with me?
Hi everyone, my surgery is on Tuesday. I am blessed, I have never had to be hospitalized, but I am not sure what to take for my stay, any suggestions? I figured that during my pre op testing tomorrow they will tell me, but I want to know now. :)) Thanks — [Deactivated Member] (posted on August 3, 2003)

Don't forget a list of your current meds... a backscratcher and a small
battery fan are great, too!

I took a robe to wear when I had to leave the floor for tests. A hair
scrunchie, brush, Carmex, small fan (I put it on the bedsie table, plugged
into wall), CD walkman to drown out neighbors, toothbrush, back scratcher
(did not use), and baby wipes (did not need). They provided: Bathing wipes
(for bed-bath), comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, baby
powder, tissues, lotion, mouthwash, deodorant, vaseline & soap. Most of
which, I didn't even use! My 1st word to my husband, "CARMEX!".
My lips, mouth & throat were so dry, I just mouthed it, lol. Luckily,
I had him prepared with a tube in his pocket! Good luck to you!

I took alot, but the things I used the most were 1. baby wipes 2. my own
personal hygiene stuff (it made me feel a lot more human with my own, good
smelling stuff!) 3. my face care routine- I was very sweaty, and hormonal,
and it kept me from breaking out 4. flip flops -the booties they gave me
were too hot. I did not use books, clothes, music, or anything else I
brought with me...too out of it, all I did was sleep and walk
intermittantly.

Unless you have a private room, you will DEFINITELY need those moldable ear
plugs! They saved my life post-op, when I had the roommate from hell. I
also took some slip-on slippers with soles that gripped (for walking
post-op), a cotton housecoat to wear as a light robe over my hospital gown
when walking, a very loose outfit to wear home, and my own toothbrush,
shampoo, etc.

I took lots of things, but only used two: the rinse-free shampoo and some
lip stuff.
