Question:
Am I considered a slow loser??
I am 11 weeks post-op and have only lost 53 lbs. I started out @ 293 lbs, I am 5'7, and I am desperate to know if I am where I should be for weight loss. — Tonya W. (posted on July 24, 2003)

Hi Tonya, we have almost the exact same starting stats, so I went to my
profile to see where I was at 11 weeks. I had lost 53.5 pounds! LOL.
Soooo close. Maybe we're twins :) I did consider myself a bit of slow
loser. It took me 8 months to reach the century club instead of the 6
months I saw others do, but I still made it. Now I have a normal BMI and
wear a comfy size 8. Hang in there. You're doing great! Remember, the
fewer carbs you eat, the more you lose. I'm much stricter about them now
than at the beginning, and that's why I think I lost more slowly.

Hi, I am now 6 mths post-op and the same height as you, but I weighed
starting out at 322. At 3 mths out I think I lost about 60 lbs, so you are
doing great! And, remem that everyone looses so diff. Good Luck to You!

There goes the answer everyone has been giving me--I'm short 5 4 thus the
slow weight loss! I have only lost 28 from 288 and at 6 weeks--I lost 18
first in three weeks, then nothing for one week then 8, then 2 in sixth
week. Yuch why can't it come off the way I want it? I also want more,
faster and I'm not happy--but my surgeon is pleased with my progress, so I
think I have to step back and give credit to someone who has watched
hundreds of cases and trust him. It's hard to do that, isn't it? I totally
sympathise with how you feel and my depression is real too> but probably
not necessary.

Slower is better!!! For your health, body and skin! So relax.
Comparisons are worthless as we are all different. There is no "right
or wrong".

I think you are doing great! I had lost 54 pounds at 11 weeks and am now 6
months out and down a total of 100.5 pounds. You are losing 4.9 pounds a
week! That is awesome!

You are doing great. I lost 66 pounds in 10 1/2 weeks but I weighed 346
when I started. And, I lost 30 pounds in 12 days so I know a lot of it was
fluid. Keep up the good work and quit worrying.

You are not a slow loser. I had surgery on 3/31/03 and I am only down 54
pounds.
