Question:
Has anyone post-op not get enough protein? So u resorted to a
protein pill? If u dont get enough protein from eating or the shakes, Has anyone had success by taking protein pills as a alternative or added protein? Also is 11gr of carbs and 6gr of sugar to high for a protein shake, but it has 18gr of protein. — sexysag37 (posted on July 15, 2003)

hiya~ as far as i know there isn't a protein pill yet. i'm sure it would
fly off the shelves if there was.
i think that 11g carbs & 6g sugars is too high for a protein shake. i
use several different kinds:
1. Designer Whey Chocolate: 17grams protein/1g carb/and i think 1g
sugar...
2. Supplement Direct Brand Whey Protein Concentrate: 23g protein/0g
sugar/1g carb
3. Jarrow's Iso Rich Soy Protein Powder: 25g protein/0carb/0sugar
you can also take the liquid amino's like Amino 2222 or Twinlab Amino Fuel
which is much higher, has 11g carb/9g sugar/15g protein (i only take that
as "emergency" -- i don't care for the taste but if i am out of
other protein powder i will use it)
there are other ways to boost your protein such as soy milk (Edensoy extra
has 11g protein), eat cottage cheese, yogurt (add powdered milk or protein
powder to it), cheeses, meats...
for a complete list of what supplements i use you can check my website:

good luck!

No, not that's not a good trafe -off. I always think in 30g increments for
protein, You'd need 2 skimpy scoops to get 36g, and you'd get a whopping
12g of sugar to go with it. Yowie. There are HUNDREDS of better products
out there that can deliver 30g protein for less than 6g sugar, many at 0g
sugar. They shake up in water (no sugar or calories there), and are very
tasty. My doc requires us to have several shakes per day, but I've never
minded them. I enjoy them tremendously and do more than required because I
feel better. The only protein pills I've seen on the market contain about
1g of protein per 3 pills. So, to get 60g, you'd eat a mere 180 pills. I
prefer chocolate over pills. I use several brands personally.
