Seeking A VA Hospital in Texas doing WLS

I just went to the Houston VA and they are now saying they do not do WLS. 6 months ago I called pre-op and they said they do WLS surgery.    — TracyW (posted on July 2, 2003)

I don't know about Huston, but I live in California and i am dealing with the Los Angeles VA. The way it usually is, they do it at only one clinic, and not too many people know about it. I say get your list, diet history, comorbids and a good resolve, see your PCP and tell him what you want. They will usually give you the referral to the surgeon. Good Luck with your journey......

I had mine done at the VA hospital in Louisville, KY, Chief of surgery is E. Garr, his area of expertise is Open RNY. What I've heard is that the Louisville, KY VA hospital is going to be the hospital is the region to preform this surgery. Your VA in Texas should be able to tell you which one in your area.
