Question:
I'm 6.5 weeks post op and having trouble sleeping.
I am 6.5 weeks out and down 45 pounds. I can't seem to get sleepy at night or fall asleep once I lay down. Is Ketosis causing this? Does it improve with time? Thanks for your help. — Happy I. (posted on June 29, 2003)

Perhaps you need less sleep? I am pre-op, but I have heard from some
post-ops that they can get by on a lot less...

This is 'normal'. Post-op is amazing in regards to finding out what is
'normal' as it has changed so much for me from when I thought I was normal.
What you're going through will regulate itself. When exactly, I couldn't
tell you. Mine lasted a few weeks but some lasted much longer.
It wouldn't be so bothersome if we didn't have these things getting in our
way of our lives...you know...those things called jobs.
Take care!!

Hi Lisa - Are you still having this problem??? Did you find something that
helped or did it just go away? I haven't slept much since surgery 9/30/03.
I wish it was that I needed less sleep but it isn't. I'm only getting 3-4
hrs and am exhausted. My psch put me on Ambien - helped for about 2 days
then not at all. Next was Trazodone, again worked for about 2 days then
nothing. Will call him again Monday.
