Question:
What is the time frame for the pre-op test to be done.
my date is July 17 and I want to make sure I get all my pre-test done on time. Does any one have or remember how soon before surgery all the results are required? I still have blood work and x-rays to do. — Barbara F. (posted on June 25, 2003)

I am having my surgery a week from today. I was originally scheduled for
May 14 and already had all my pre-op tests done for that surgery. When I
was rescheduled, I was told I would have to redo my pre-op tests. The only
tests I needed to repeat were the blood tests and urine tests and go over
the medical history again to make sure nothing had changed. My dr requires
these tests to be performed within two weeks of your surgery. My xrays and
ekgs from the first time around(about 2 months old) were still good. Good
Luck with your surgery!!

when i did my testing, it took me about a month for all of them. i was
lucky, the majority of them did not require an appointment, and i knocked a
few out in one day. i did have to wait i think 2 weeks for my psych test
& i think like 1 week for my ultra sound... i had everything done in a
month. i put my surgery off until my family & i came home from our
vacation- so it was just there waiting for me :o) but as long as the DR's
have their test results within a month, i'd say before surgery, all should
be fine. it might not have to be a month, but i know my surgeon is way over
booked and over worked... and extremly busy so things take a little bit
longer :o) GOOD LUCK!

Chest x-ray and EKG are good for at least a month. Blood work needs to be
within a week of surgery.

DO YOUR BLOOD WORK NOW, ASAP. MY MOTHER HAD HERS DONE A MONTH BEFORE AND
THOUGHT SHE WAS AHEAD. TURNED OUT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH HER THYROID.
TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, IT TOOK A WHILE TO GET IT UNDER CONTROL AND
SURGERY WAS POSTPONED DUE TO IT.
