Question:
What are the best high-protein choices from fast-food restaurants?
I know that fast-food is a horrible choice post-op, but if I am on the road and can't eat home cooked meals, what are the best high-protein choices from fast-food, drive-thru restaurants? — raye (posted on June 23, 2003)

Wendy's chili is excellent. You can also get a grilled chicken sandwich
and toss away the bun...JR

When I'm on the run, I get the $1 Double cheeseburger, ordered without the
bun and a fork to go. (they put it in a box)

I have 3 kids so it is not always easy to stay out fast food places. Taco
bell has a few good choise depending on how far out you are like pintos and
cheese ,their chicken is yummy to.I ask for a chicken quesadia(trashed that
spelling) with no sauce. And I scrape out the insides to eat and give the
shell to the dog. Long John Silvers has some choices to if you like fish.
They have broiled fish that is good.

In & Out Burger will make you a protein burger. It's served with no
bread bun they use lettuce instead, very yummy. KFC has baked chicken or a
single piece of fried- the skin. Good luck

almost all the fast food chains have salads now, i'm not talking the garden
varity but the ones with a whole cut up chicken breast and cheese in them.
i get the chicken cesar from burger king and if i eat every bite with
chicken and a little lettus i eat the whole breast but not the whole salad.
just a thought. good luck, kimberly open distal rny 11/12/02 -100lba

McD's - chicken salad (not the breaded, but the grilled)
or order a McGrilled Chicken sand minus the bun;
Wendy's - Chili; Artic Circle -
Chicken breast sandwich minus the bun - very tender and juicy;
Burker King - I don't like their chili but it's high
protein or a burger minus the bun; Jack in the Box -
Chicken taco minus the shell, mushroom burger with swiss cheese, no bun;
Taco Bell - chicken or steak quesadillas (ask for a
fork) and eat the guts. The steak and chicken are both very tender,
Pintos and cheese (I get extra cheese), A chicken taco minus the shell.
KFC - Tender Roast Chicken leg or thigh (more juice than
the breast so it goes down easier) minus skin, I also like the bbq chicken
sandwich (don't think that the bit of bbq sauce on there is going to kill
me :>) minus the bun; You're pretty safe with any non-breaded chicken
or burger minus the bun in most places.

I'm able to eat a Whopper JR from Burger King. I pull the bread off as I'm
eating it (can't handle bread, fills me up). It's just sloppy and wet enough
that I can digest it.Can't eat a dry burger.

chicken! if it is breaded, unbread it... white meat surprisingly has more
protein, but is a bit harder to get down since it is usually dryer, try it
with a low sugar, low carb sauce or other condiment. everyone really likes
the wendy's chili too, i have never been a fan of it, but more for personal
reasons (had a friend who worked for wendy's in high school, and she would
tell me horror stories of what they do with their chili) i will spare you
guys the details...

There is a book that covers most fast food places and a nicer ones too
(Applebee's..) I found it at fastfoodfacts.com I leave one in each
vehicle, that way if I am on the run, I don't have to go off plan. It even
tells you how many grams of sugar are in each serving. (which is really
nice if you order any sauces)

Burger King - Jr. Chicken whopper - ditch the bun. Side salads work, too.

Hi! Stay away from anything fried. We travel a great deal, and go to Taco
Bell, Taco Mayo, any Mexican resturant, or Wendy's (their chili doesn't
have any sugar in it, and a small is a bit too much food for me!).
Hamburgers seem to be just too darn greasy. Burger King adds sugar to their
meats and coatings. Stay away from those fries! Nasty! At the Mexican
resturants, we eat just about anything... staying away from fried foods.
Salads are okay, but be sure to eat the meat first. We also get chili
coney's! LOL We just don't eat the bun! AND we don't have a coney more than
once a month. :~) We also take a cooler with us, and keep deli meats in
it. That is REALLY good! You don't have to keep looking for some place you
can eat, that way! We just make sure that at least one meal a day is at a
resturant where we can sit and take it easy and have a hot meal. Good Luck!
