Question:
Need to hear from post op's who have 100 cm bypassed
I just found out that my surgeon bypassed 100cm of intestines and I would like to hear from other post ops who started out at around 290ish, with 100 cm bypassed. I'd like to know how much you lost in how long and how well you are doing healthwise. I am 5 weeks post op tomorrow. Thank you. — Happy I. (posted on June 16, 2003)

Hi Lisa. Pre op I was 311 lbs. at 5'7. I am almost 7 1/2 months post op
and have lost 127 lbs, with about 30 more to go. I had an open RNY
transected with a 100 cm bypass. I am pleased with my loss, although it
has slowed dramatically. I am in the best health I've ever been in, I can
eat virtually anything with the exception of sugar. I take 2 adult multi
vitamins and 1500 mg calcium citrate a day. Hugs, Kim S. Open RNY Nov.4/02

I had 100 cm bypassed. Started at 278, and I am now at 153 (down 125 lbs).
At 5'8", my current BMI is around 23 and I am at goal. My PCP
actually told me last week not to lose any more weight! Unbelievable....
!!! Anyway, you can check my profile, but I've been a relatively slow
loser. Lost just under 100 lbs the first year. Now, at 16 months post-op,
I'm down 125. BUT.... I was always a slow, but steady loser. No long
plateaus. No health complications. Ideal result. No big problems with
mal-absorption. I dump from sugar and excessive refined carbohydrates and
I get full relatively quickly. I'm VERY happy with the 100 cm bypass.
Originally, I was concerned that it wouldn't be enough of a bypass. But I
was wrong and my surgeon was right!!!
