Question:
What does a letter from pcp need to say?
I was denied by my insurance because i need to have a letter from my prime care physician and i also need to have a physician supervised diet in the last year for 6 months with weigh ins. I have been on a diet for high blood pressure since January. My doctor said she would get all the info together for me. I have been trying to get this letter from her for over 2 months. I didnt have it, thats why i was denied. I even made an appointment to see her again and still have no letter. She promised it to me 2 weeks ago. I was thinking of writing a letter myself and getting her to sign it. I think she would do that. What exactly does that letter need to say? I have BC/BS that has to be approved through Intracorp. Thanks for any help. — sandyh (posted on May 27, 2003)

I had the same problem with my Doctor. I knew she'd be busy and decided to
type my own and just have her sign it. A copy of what I used is in my
profile if you'd like to take a look. Just go to my profile and click on
the link for the Primary Doctor Letter. Good luck in your journey! :)
