Should your surgeon be your primary care dr for the duration of the surgery 12 to 18

I kinda doubt it. Surgeons specialze in surgery, PCPs look more at the
whole person. Better to have both working together.

While your surgeon will take care of your wt. loss needs for awhile they
usually want your pcp to be very involved in your care.

I agree that its best to have both working together. Your surgeon is not
going to want office visits to take care of your flu, or broken finger.

I live four hours away from my surgeon and only saw him once after I got
out of the hospital, which was six weeks after my surgery to have the tube
taken out.

Your PCP will refer you to your surgeon for anything he/she doesn't feel is
in the scope of general care. Your surgeon will refer you to your PCP for
anything that is IN the scope of general care.
