Question:
Comment About Support
I am 3 days away from my lap RNY. My office staff decided to take me out for my "last meal" at lunch. To my surprise, they gave me "gifts" too. Nothing like the support of your friends!!! I got a cute tee-shirt to sleep in, some comfy stretch pants to bum around in... and for the grand finally... drum roll... 4 rolls of toilet paper (for my pre-op business) and a package of wooden spoons (ya'll know what I mean). I thought it was not only fun, but very thoughtful. It really makes things much easier when your loved ones and friends support you in what you are doing. God bless everyone :-) — Happy I. What a wonderful way to show they love you! I have tons of support from my
family and especially my boyfriend. I can not even imaging trying to
explain thie to all the stuffy PHD's that I work with. Perhaps they would
give me a scientific calculator to pass the time. Best of luck to you!

That is awesome your co-workers are so supportive and thoughtful. I have
decided to keep my WLS to myself, parents, and 3 other close relative. It
is personal to me but I don't feel comfortable telling my co-workers (they
move me to death I know I am only 19 so they are all mother figures to me)
but I do not think they would ever understand. These women walk 2 miles
everyday on their lunch break by the way...so they will just tell me I
should go with them. I'm not trying hard enough, etc. Or I could be totally
wrong and miss out on tons of love and support. Well I'm sure they will
give me a going away party, as far as they know I'm having surgery...they
are not permitted to ask further questions under new HIPPA regulations.
Anyway, go luck and I'm happy for you!

Lisa- that is great what your friends/co-workers did for you! A little
support and kindness goes a long way, and this is certainly a great way to
start your journey! Goodluck to you :-)
