Question:
Why do more people eat flour tortillas vs. corn?
When looking at the nutritional value, flour tortillas have many many more carbs and fat. However, the corn tortillas I bout have .5 fat and 11 carbs. The reason I ask is I see more people eat flour tortillas on the site? — Monique W. (posted on May 5, 2003)

I am pre-op and I can say I just prefer the taste of flour tortillas
(although I haven't had one since I started my diet for pre-op lol). I
only used corn tortillas when I made my home made enchaladas (going to miss
those). It could be that must post-ops can easier tolerate the flour vs
corn as the flour is ground finer than corn meal. Just my humble opion.

I try to stay away from white foods, like white sugar, white flour, white
bread, white tortillas, ect... I eat corn ones. Everyone is different,
though. :)

I like the taste, I put it on top of the stove and warm it up, then put
tuna fish, peanut butter, or low fat lunch meat in it and roll it up like a
burrito. I munch on that one sandwich all day. I do this once or twice a
week instead of using all that filling bread.

Hi there...
I have a really hard time with flour tortillas, but I can do a corn no
problem. I am kind of happy that flour torts and bread dont like me as
much post op. They used to be 2 of my favorite things, bread being numero
uno. I think it is interesting that you say so many eat flour more than
corn. Hmmmm... I tell you it is a mystery to me! LOL Have a good one!

There are two other options available to you - one is a whole wheat
tortilla (by Diane's). They taste different, but are really quite good if
you like whole wheat. The other is a low-carb tortilla (I think Diane's
makes these too). I hate the LC ones lol but you might like them!

Don't eat either one of those. Try LaTortilla- very high fiber, low carb
and good!!
