Question:
I don't know if I am eating too much or not enough at 11 months out.

Hi Linda, I am 11 months post-op as well, and I believe I you need to eat a
little more. From what it looks like, you are basically eating 1 protein
bar and 2 meals a day. You should really eat atleast 3 meals plus 2 protein
supplements, or just 5 small meals, etc. I think you should make sure to
eat a breakfast, lunch, dinner and protein-filled snack all in addition to
the Detour bar. Your portions sound good- not too much, not too little- we
are about the same in those terms! I probably eat about 1300 calories, that
is with exercising, and am still losing (but slowly). Goodluck to you!

Hi Linda! We are very close in stats except I started out heavier. I had my
surgery 5/30/02 started out 297 now 147. (In fact I'm thinking now of a way
to celebrate being -150!!) You eat about what I do. and so far its working
pretty good I guess. I have a couple of mugs of coffee (helps me go to the
bathroom) in the morning with about 1/2 cup skim milk. When I get to work I
have 1/2 Atkins protein bar (I have been experimenting with eating the
whole bar to get more protein, kind of scary) then 1 hour later I have a
couple of mugs of green tea. For lunch I have 3 oz lean ham and 1 oz
cheese. More green tea or crystal light later in the afternoon. Late
afternoon I have 1/2 protein bar or baby carrots with lite ranch. When I
get home, more green tea. For dinner, 2-3 oz meat of some kind and veggies
either cooked or salad. Later I have something though - either 2 cups
popcorn, a blue bunny sf ice cream bar, fruit, or 1/3 cup grapenuts with
skim milk. Maybe I eat too many carbs but I don't want to be a fanatic.

Linda,
Hi there I'm 11 months post op too.... By what you worte, it doesn't seem
that you're eating enough, .. Your body maybe in starvation mode, and
holding onto every last pound... I would up the calories, and try to get
more protein in, .. What I would do on the times that you eat 1/2 a detour
eat the whole thing if you can tollerate it... It'll add up, and great
tasting protein.
Best of luck
Hugs

Wow, you guys are eating a lot less than I am! Your weight loss is better
too, though....hmmm! I'm 10 months out and down 116 pounds, 281 to 165.
My breakfast is half-cup cottage cheese or cereal with 1/2 cup fruit and
1/2 cup skim milk. I generally have a late morning snack of 10-12 almonds,
or 4 Triscuit w/ an oz of string cheese melted on it, or peanut butter and
banana--something with a little protein in it. Lunch is dinner leftovers;
today was 1/2 cup pasta w/ meat sauce and a cup or so of salad. I had an
orange a little later and may add a s.f. muffin (55 calories). Dinner will
be @3 oz salmon with maybe 1/4 cup rice and 1/2 cup or more of veggie. I
usually have a snack in the evenings too, either some dried fruit or
popcorn, something like that. I have another 1/2 cup to 1 cup milk in
coffee and tea throughout the day. I guess total calories are in the
neighborhood of 1200-1400.
My weight loss has slowed down a lot in the last month, but I'm not sure I
want to eat a whole lot less unless I really get stuck. I figure I have to
be able to eat this way for the rest of my life, and I think I could be
pretty content with this. I try to emphasize healthy food but don't get
too hung up on carbs, just try to keep them more complex than simple.
