How Many Times Do You See Psychiatric

I only saw a psychiatrist one time before the surgery. You may want to
find another one (unless you think you may need to see him/her that
often)...

I only had to go once. Actually, most of the people in our support group
only went once. I think it depends on the Psych.

I have to see mine twice. The first appointment I spoke with him for about
20 minutes.. then I took the MMPI-2. He scheduled another appointment with
me to go over the results and speek with him some more. He also requested
(ordered?) me to go to a Support Group meeting. Fortunatly there is a
support group that has a meeting a couple of days before my second
appointment with him. The whole process is a little annoying but I can see
why that want to be sure that this is something you are prepared for.
Good luck!

Yes, that's normal. I had to see mine once before testing, once for the
MMPI testing, and once after.

After I had my evaluation my psych said he wanted me to go see someone
three times before I had the surgery. Like three times is really going to
help me with my problems, but I did and haven't seen one since. My
feelings were, I will do what they want just so I can have the surgery and
once its done, they can't take it back.

The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania typically requires only one
visit to the psychologist for the psych consult. The psychologists used
are part of HUP's Weight Loss Center (non-surgical) so they are familar
with the psychological issues of the morbidly and super obese...JR
