Question:
Does anyone have arthritic type pain from the fast weight loss?
I began at 400lbs and have lost 95 lbs in 4 months on a cal/fat calorie and exercise program instead of surgery, but thought some of you may be experiencing what I am, pain in back, legs, hips that comes in cycles. First time was when I had lost about 60 lbs and again this last week. I thought it might be caused from skin emptying of fat and sagging, but am desperate to see if anyone else has had this losing so quickly before I go to the doctor with it. Thanks — Donna W. I have been having this. The more I lose, the more my back hurts. Of
course, I do have degenerative disc disease. That did not get diagnosed
until about a year after my roux-en-y. Wish I could give you a better
outlook but I can't. One of the bigest problems I have found is that the
medicine they give for back problems are NSAIDS and we can't have them.

I have about 2 weeks of severe back pain with every 20 pounds I lose. I
take Celebrex and it helps some. I have found that strenght training for my
upper back helps a lot. I use one of those giant rubber band things instead
of free weights and I notice serious relief within a few days that lasts
until the next 20 pounds is gone. Of course once I feel better I slack off
on the strenth training. Probably if I kept it up I would have less pain. I
also have hip pain from walking but the more often i walk the better it
gets.

I've lost 200 lbs before on 1200 calories and low fat in 13 months. Your
body is going through so many changes and trying to adjust. So it's more
than likely that. However, with that said I still contend that the quick
weight loss kicked off the start of my Fibromyalgia. They do not know what
triggers it and all I know is that I never had the sort of pain in my body
that I had after that weight loss.
<p>I actually had a 4 week reprieve of needing any anti-inflammtories
right after my surgery and then it seemed to flare up again. However, the
past 2 weeks or so I have been able to get by without taking them. I would
assume this is your body adjusting but if it keeps ups longer term seek out
some medical advice. Learning to live with something like Fibromyalgia
early on goes a long ways in dealing with it for the rest of your life.
