Question:
Does anybody know anything abut Curves Fitness Centers?
Would that be a place where a chubby, out-of-shape, new post-op like myself might be comfortable? — rita W. (posted on April 8, 2003)

I go to Curves three times a week, and I am a fairly new post op (about 2
1/2 months). I feel very comfortable there, and the one I go to has a lot
of women that have had the surgery. There are women there who are all
sizes. I think you will do just fine. Good Luck!

I have been going to curves for 3 months now and absolutely love it. I am
6 months post~op and have never felt out of place. They are all women,
looking to do what you are, get healthy! Their protein drink is good too.
I drink it everyday for breakfast!

Hi, there! I joined Curves a year or so ago. I went for about 9 months
(this is all pre-op). I enjoyed it for the workout and started feeling
much stronger. HOwever, I would say unless you are planning to go at least
4-5 times a week, I wouldn't bother. I could only make it 3 times, and in
9 months, didn't lose any weight, and only lost a couple of inches. I WAS
NOT dieting at the time. Hubby and I decided to buy a Bowflex. In 6 weeks
of using that, I lost more than double the inches I lost at Curves in 9
months. Now, if you're new to exercise, I think it's a great place, but
after you've gotten pretty fit, it might be hard to get a good workout
there. I definitely felt comfortable that it was all women there, and it
could be a nice social time, also.

I joined Curves in December 1 yr post op, since joining I have lost
16inches and another 22lbs. I have 55lbs to go to goal! Curves is Great-
all ages and sizes. Try it on a free week basis.. You wont be sorry

Curves for Women offers a great work out for those who are avid exercisers
and those that have always hated exercise. I was never one to be great at
exercising. I go to curves, and it is great. Being for women only takes the
stress of exercising in front of men and "skinny women!" There
protein shake is very good as well. I find the workout to go by quickly as
exercise should! Otherwise it isn't fun!
