Question:
16 weeks post op only 38 pounds lost HELP ME What am I doing wrong???
I am 16 weeks post op and have only lost 38lbs. is this normal?? I am considered a lightweight starting at 257 pounds 5ft 8inches tall, but I just have no idea if it is normal to only lose about 2-3lbs a week or not. — Angel H. (posted on April 5, 2003)

I read your profile and according to that, you've lost 40 lbs and without
exercising! I think that's great!! Just think of what your weightloss
would be if you WERE exercising! (Food for thought)
You didn't say what your food/supplement regimen is. That's just how my
brain works. Can you give us a thumbnail?

Dress appropriately. Put on good shoes. Walk. Repeat.

I'm 5'9 and my goal weight is anywhere under 250 lbs. I guess we all have
very different impressions of needing WLS. You barely "needed"
to lose 100 lbs so you are going to lose slower, it's just logical. As the
others said, exercise is the key piece, espeically for those needing to
lose less. When you are SMO like me just the cut back on food gets you to
some good loss early on but exercise still becomes the key for us also to
keep it moving. At 16 weeks I will probably be at 80 lbs lost since
surgery and 101 lbs total, based on how things have gone the first 2
months. Considering I have 200 lbs to lose just to get to 242, I'd say you
are ahead of me.

Also how many grams of carbs are you eating? How much water are
you getting in? These are all the important pieces of WLS.

why do you ask what you are doing wrong? you are the only one who can
answer that...so look long and hard at your food intake and level of
activity....only you know the answer.
