Question:
Seeking Self pay patients of Dr. Anez in Fairfax VA
I am researching the Open RNY and have heard that Dr. Anez is an excellent Doctor. However he does not accept my insurance and I was wondering if any of his other patients were self pay and how much money did you have to pay out for everything? Thank you in advance for any info that you can give to me. Ann — Ann M. (posted on March 18, 2003)

Why not ask Dr. Anez or his staff what his fees are?

Ann, there are many other good qualified surgeons in the Northern Va and DC
area that perform the RNY. Perhaps one of them will accept your insurance.

Ann~ I have alot of really great information on self-pay in my profile, if
you find out that you are indeed going to have to Self-Pay some of my
research might help you out. Good Luck!!

Ann, I live in Virginia as well...I don't know what that particular doctor
charges (CALL) but I do know that I checked in TN, KY and VA and they were
all 25,000 to 30,000 and some even more. I'm going to San Antonio, Tx (I
have family close) and it's a little under 15,000. But I have seen some
postings in Arkansas it's 11,000 to 12,000. There is also a doctor in
Houston, TX that is around 13,000. Good Luck!

I had surgery with Dr. Anez, but he took my insurance. CareFirst. However,
when I first started researching, CareFirst told me that Dr. Anez was not
on my panel, and therefore I would have to pay a substantial out of pocket.
I asked the receptionist, and she was very good about the costs. I think
his cost was $6000, but I think you should check with his receptionist.
Also, make sure to ask if you would be able to negotiate a lower price,
since you are self-pay. It never hurts to ask.

Incidently, I highly recommend Dr. Anez. He has done many gastric bypasses,
including many for the medical community. My back orthopedist suggested him
to me, and I was very happy. I had an open RNY (I'm not sure if he does
anything else), but my scar was only 3-1/2" long. My surgery went
beautifully, and the Fair Oaks Hospital Nurses have to be the absolute
best. My experience has been wonderful so far!
Check my profile and also email me if you have any questions.
