Has anyone had tummy tuck covered by Humana HMO

I am considering tummy tuck after I reach goal weight and I am wondering if My Insurance carrier(Humana HMO) will cover it. I am having lots of skin rashes due to excess skin.    — monica C. (posted on March 18, 2003)

I have Humana HMO but I'm in Kansas City, MO. I have not had a tummy tuck yet but someone at one of my support groups who actually works for Humana and has the HMO got a tummy tuck and said it was covered if "medically necessary" so I have hope. I still want to lose between 75 - 100 pounds more so I'm not ready to look into it yet.

yes! I was denied twice but won on appeal. You must prove it to be medically ness so make sure you go to your pcp for any rashes, bumps or anything caused by the hanging skin! Also, make sure you fill all prescriptions for skin cream because you can use them in appeal.
