Question:
Could my cycle be messed up due to Pre-op stress?
I am rarely late, and I know I am not pregnant, due to me being infertile. I am a little over a week late and no period at all. I have surgery April 3 and have tried to not obsess over the time ticking away and keeping busy, I was wondering if my period could be messed up because of the psychological stress I am under? I want to have it and get it done with. — tpalmer (posted on March 7, 2003)

YES!!! I didn't have a period from July02-Dec02. I firmly believe it was
due to stress (I got tested for anything else). I was a major stress case.
I'm kind glad i didn't have a period for a while, cuz I was so stressed,
already in a bad mood. Perhaps my body was protecting my head from really
going off the deep end! When it finally did arrive it lasted for 3
weeks!!! But now it's all back to normal ( usually only 4 days). Maybe
this is too much info, but I hope it helps. I've seen many postings on
this site, so be prepared your monthly "friend" might show up on
surgery day. Best wishes on a smooth surgery and and easy recovery! Aimee

I am glad to find out that I am not the only one. I went to my pcp on Jan
7th (the day of my last period) and didn't have one again until March 2nd
(I have never been late). I was so worried and called the Dr.'s office and
she told me not to worry unless it is about 12 weeks of no period. I also
had my tubes tied and haven't had sex...so I know it wasn't that. Hun, I
think we both got hit with a little bit more stress and anxiety than our
bodies could handle. If you miss more than two periods, make sure you call
your Dr. just to be on the safe side.

I am also glad to hear that I am not alone, I just started today after
being 2 weeks late....last time I was 3 days late I was pregnant, so I just
chalked it up to stress since there is no way I could be pregnant.
