Question:
Am I Eating Too Much? 9 Days Post-Op

Okay guys, I'm in need of your help once again? I'm 9 days post-op and when it comes to my low fat cream soups, I feel like to could eat 1456 cans lol I have no problem eating a can of soup in 30-45 minutes or two cans a day. I am getting most of protein in with 2 protein drinks a day. I will also allow myself one sugarfree/fatfree fudgesicle? Also, since I am still on the liquid diet, I will drink some water/crystal lite with my soup? I'd love to get your advice? I have an app. tomorrow to have my staples removed and I plan on talking to my Dr about the amount I'm eating. I want to get serious and if I'm eating too much, then I want to change this immediately. I refuse to go through the surgery and not follow the rules. I want to change immediately if I'm doing something wrong! Thanks in advance everyone! Josii*    — meltedbuttr (posted on March 4, 2003)

Coupla things strike me. You're actually drinking, not eating. But since it IS food, it's more like liquid grazing. By drinking with your soup, it just turns it into a very high calories liquid rushing thru, not giving satisfaciton, just packing calories on board for no "reward". If you make your meal last only 15 minutes, you can get less food in and will expedite your wt loss. The object is to get as little food as it takes to satisfy. You're covering your protein with supplements, and hopefully your vites are covering the other 8. That means food is just an extra right now. I'm not entirely against the fudgesicle if it is 0g sugar, but so early on, it might help develop habits that can be your undoing a little further down the road. If you can save those for "later" when you've got some good wt loss going, good strong habits, it won't derail you.

Michelle, I am confused if she is eating low fat cream soups where she is getting tons of calories. I agree she should get used to not drinking with her meals - liquid or solid or that she is setting up the right habits from the start. However, I do not see where the significant calories come from. I went from broth and sf jello to eating solids the 2nd week so maybe I am missing something.
