Question:
Would anyone that has Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota please let me know how long

it took to get approved or denied? My surgeons office is submiting my paperwork today, and I'm anxious to know what kind of time frame I can expect. Thanks for any help of Info!    — J. Wilkinson (posted on March 4, 2003)

I have BC/BS of MN PPO. The BTC submitted the paperwork to the insurance company on 2/21/03 (Friday). I was approved on 2/25/03 (Tuesday). I called on Thursday the 27th and found out I was approved. They wouldn't fax me a copy of the approval letter. I had to wait for that to arrive in the mail. I got the letter this past Saturday (3/1/03). I hope this helps and that it goes a quickly for you. It took about two weeks for me the recieve my approval in the mail. Very easy & quick! Best wishes in your process.

The surgeon's office sent in the paperwork on a Friday and I was approved the next Tuesday. Good Luck to you.

I had the BEST approval time in (I THINK) HISTORY!!! My Patient Coordinator faxed everything to BC/BS of Minn. at 4:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and when I called them Thursday at 1:35 p.m. and asked them if they had received the faxes and if the ten days to approve or deny was a week and a half--or ten BUSINESS days--the nice lady told me that the approval letter was in que and would be mailed the following DAY!!! 21 hours and I was approved. Hopefully you already have your approval by the time you read this!!! (And to think all that was 7 months ago--WOW)

WOW!! I'm glad you asked this question...I hadn't thought about it - AND I have the same insurance. I'm still in the process of havin my pre-op testing done, but the Doc will probaby submit around the end of this month...Good luck ;-)
