Question:
Has anyone tried the new protein drink being sold at Curves?
I need to up my protein intake (I am 6 mos. post-op and down 98.5 lbs.) I am feeling more tired now than before and have had quite a bit of hair loss/thinning. I am sure I need more protein and just saw that Curves sells their own protein drink. I don't want to take anything that is loaded with sugar or carbs. I see my surgeon on the 28th for a check-up. Thanks for the info and good luck to all awaiting surgery and new post-ops. — Kathleen K. (posted on February 21, 2003)

I haven't tried it, but I read the label and I don't think the protein
ratio is all that great. Dollar for dollar, you're better off with
something like real meals. You can get samples of protein drinks at
wlssuccess.com or vitalady.com to find what you like. To the vanilla ones
I add 1/4 tsp of sugar free tang, crushed ice and 4 oz. of milk. To the
chocolate ones I add 1/3 banana, crushed ice and 4 oz. of milk. Good luck!

Hey Kathleen! My sister has a canister of the Curves protein drink and shd
read me the label. For RNY'ers, it has too many calories, too much sugar
and only 15g of protein (if I remember correctly). She attends Curves
faithfully and is trying to avoid WLS. I had my surgery in November and
she couldn't understand that most protein supplements are just nasty
because hers tastes so good. I guess when they lower the calories,
decrease the sugar and increase the protein the taste just goes out the
window!!! I myself have ordered Real Meals but I haven't received them
yet. Currently I am mixing 1 scoop of Optimum Nutrition Vanilla with 6
ounces Diet V-8 splash (berry blend or tropical blend) and 1/4 of a banana.
I find this particular recipe to be quite tasty! Good luck!

Hi Kathleen! Congrats on your great weightloss. I joined curves 4 weeks
ago and bought the Protein Drink the very first day. They actually made me
one while I was there, so I could make sure I liked it! Chocolate and
Vanilla is good. I drink it first thing in the morning. So starts my day
out with a good dose of Protein. Curves said I should drink one for a
snack but can't seem to fit it in. I am 5 months out and am loosing my
hair too. It has gotten better. I do have my tired days but I just keep
taking my Iron. Keep up the good work! (107lbs down)
