Question:
Almost 9 months out and suddenly very overwhelmingly sleepy, why?
This just started about a week ago. I feel as though I have taken a sleeping pill of some sort and have not. I am almost 9 months out and down 130 lbs, any suggestions would be great. — Sandy T. (posted on February 20, 2003)

Are you getting enough iron and protein in your diet? I know that low iron
can make you tired and enmenic. It would be good to have some blood work
done, just to be sure.

hi there :) i would get blood work to make sure everythings all good, i too
would be very high energy then go through a bout of sleepiness or low
energy, i had one of these times right around the time at 6 months when i
had lost 124, then again at the 10 month mark, for the most part im filled
with energy but it comes and goes from time to time and my blood work has
always come back normal, not lacking in anything, best of luck to you! :)

While they are doing the blood test (hopefully for iron and thyroid) have
them do a pregnancy beta. I remember being so sleepy during early pregnancy
with my three boys I thought I was drugged. Congrats on the weight loss!

Have you started eating more carbs or sugar? If I eat a lot of carbs I get
VERY tired and sleepy. Also low iron and/or dehydration can do this too.
Are you eating enough protein and drinking your water? Good luck!

I've been struggling with this exact same problem. I'm 10 months post-op
and it started a little over a month ago. I'm having severe pain from
muscle spasms so I'm taking some muscle relaxants and pain medication to
help me be functional, but I've been on this regiman since the end of
October, but the sleepiness didn't start until January or so. It's so
frustrating. I don't wake up refreshed, and I could easily go back to bed
after only being up for a few hours. I can't sit still for long periods of
time to read, or surf the internet, DRIVE MY CAR, etc. I'm slightly
anemic, and I take many supplements each day. I have no idea what's
causing this, but it needs to go away. I've lost 151 lbs since last April,
and the weight loss has significantly slowed down over the last few months.
I sure hope you start feeling more awake, I can certainly relate to that
awful sleepiness feeling. God Bless.
