Question:
Want to take body measurements pre-op to compare with after surgery.
What body parts should I measure? Post-ops - Are there any that you wish you had taken? — Amy W. (posted on February 7, 2003)

It's amazing that you truly lose weight from EVERYWHERE on your body. Today
I was painting my toenails and noticed how small my feet look these days. I
measure everywhere...wrists, neck, ankles, upper arms, thighs, rib area,
etc. You'll be amazed! I think I would have measured my head had I thought
about it ;o)

Measure your neck, your upper arms, your bust, your waist, your hips, your
upper leg, lower leg, ankles and even your exact foot size...as all of
these places will shrike over time. Believe it or not...your head may get
smaller! Take a picture the day of surgery...then 1 every month after
wards...that's the best way to see the results. :-)

I looked at Kate's list and it's what I track also, with the addition of
shoe and ring sizes. I track my measurements monthly and I also write down
the size of my pants and shirts at that point in time. I also keep a
journal for how I feel different due to the weight loss. Like the time I
had to move my car seat up a notch because my butt and stomach weren't
taking up as much room. Like the time I reached to scratch my back and
discovered I have shoulder blades. I am looking forward to being able to
cross my legs. Good luck to you.

The only thing I would add to the list is to measure your shoulders. I put
the measuring tape around my shoulders..just between the shoulder and upper
arm, where I would wear a shawl...and I have lost 6 inches from there in
three months. My measurements are posted on my profile if you want to see
the change in such a short time.
