I am curious.....why would you???? Those things are dangerous and you
have the ultimate tool at your disposal now. I don't mean to be rude but
why would you???

I HAVEN'T HAD THE SURGERY YET (WAITING ON DATE) BUT A FRIEND OF MINE HAD
SURGERY 3 YEARS AGO AND SHE HAS TAKEN THE ADIPEX, NOT THAT SHE NEEDED IT
SHE WAS JUST AFRAID OF GAINING HER WEIGHT BACK, WHICH SHE NEVER HAS, SHE IS
AN RN AND SHE KNEW BETTER...........

To answer peggy's question. 1st of all Phentermine is still an approved
drug for weight loss, it was the other drug in the phen/fen combo that was
pulled off the market altogether because it lead to pulmonary hypertension
and other problems. Phentermine acts as an appetite suppressant. I can
see why someone having trouble resisting foods, and I am one of those
folks, would contemplate asking about this to lose the last amount of
weight they want to lose. I lost 120 lbs so far, I am about 1 year out
from my surgery and I have not seen a loss in over 3 months. I find myself
snacking a lot in the evenings and not able to control these urges, despite
the fact that I am eating good balanced meals, I get my water in, I am not
getting my exercise in. The only thing that I can see that is standing in
my way of my goal is my uncontrollable urge to snack in the evenings. I do
not dump, I can eat cookies, crackers, cheese, nuts, pretty much non-stop
if I get myself into that mode. I have heard about some wls patients
taking this, and my advise would be ask your dr if you feel you are at that
point. I am certainly considering doing so when I see him for my 1 yr
post-op visit.

oops...just reread my post...I meant to say I am getting my exercise
in...in fact I walk at least 6 times a week some days over 3 miles...picked
up the exercise to this level at he beginning of Jan and still have not
seen a loss.

Some people have problems controlling their urge to snack. I must admit
also, I'm one. I'm not sure that I would resort to diet pills again
though...been there, done that I'll probably see a ocunselor or therapist
when I talk to my surgeon at my next appointment.
