Question:
My letter to the insurance don't sound all that urgent
I researched and saw where it would help if I would write a letter to the insurance company to include in my surgeons packet, as to why I want to have the laparascopic RNY, I just reread the letter that I typed up and honestly, it doesn't sound like "its urgent and necessary" enough to have the surgery...I mean it just doesn't "jump out at me" like I think it needs to, can anyone help me with a letter? This is probably my last chance of *proving* that I am in DIRE NEED of this life saving surgery-I need to get my pont across and make it count this time...its sad to admit, but if they'd see me or spend one night in my body-thats all the convincing they would need... — doit 2. If your insurance doesn't require a letter from you, then don't do one.
They should get all the information they need from your surgeon. If they
need documentation of previous physician-supervised weight loss attempts,
that should come from your PCP. I know that many of us would like to
believe that emotional appeals to the insurance company are helpful, but
they are bound by whatever requirements their employers have, and I find it
hard to believe that personal letters will have much impact. So, if your
insurance doesn't require a letter from you, don't write one and don't
stress over it.
