Question:
Winter clothing

For my entire life I never wore heavy warm clothes. Now having lost ALL the weight I am preptually cold. My friends think I am nuts, and should be wearing long sleeves, and heavy coats. I am just so uncomnfortable wearing them, feels like I am in a straightjacket. Anyone else have this problem?    — bob-haller (posted on January 18, 2003)

Yes! I have always worn short sleeves or maybe 3/4 length at most. I actually broke down and wore a sweatshirt that I got for Christmas to work yesterday. I cut the sleeve ends and folded them over so it looked a little fancier than a regular sweatshirt (they were long to begin with). I hate long sleeves and don't like things on my wrists, even watches. I bought some velourish type dress shirts for work for the warmth. They were still 3/4 sleeve length but the static cling drove me crazy so I don't wear them. I've even resorted to flannel pajamas (tops/bottoms or a full length night gown) at night instead of a regular to the knee nightgown that I have always worn. So you're not alone. The struggle for warmth and comfort in a 'new' body is a difficult adjustment. I haven't figured out a happy medium yet. I'm just counting down the days to summer! Lisa open rny 4/26/02 -123lbs

Just a funny observation here: What about moving to a warmer climate? :-)

I hear ya' Bob! Hubby and I are going to Texas next month for vacation, visiting his retired parents who live in Harlingen, going to see South Padre Island etc. I told DH that I think I'll stay in Texas with mom & pop and come back to Illinois in May when they do!!! I also hate the extra bulky clothes, but I'm getting used to it as the Illinois winter gets colder! I used to run the trash cans out to the curb in my sweats, now I have to bundle up just for that. Amy I was just talking about that today. I love florida and were going there soon. But I always wanted to live there. Jen sadly doesnt like Florida:( Says its too humid. She thinks Arizona would be good, I was born in Phoenix, and hopefully we will get out there this summer at high noon on a 110 degree day we will see if Jen still likes Phoenix. Its nice but too hot, and brown.

I'm freezing all the time and I'm only halfway to goal. I prefer this to sweating, though. I wear silk long underwear - I get them at eddie Bauer. They are lightweight and keep my body heat in!

I have the same experance. I was the guy who used to stand outside in the winter in a short sleeved shirt.-155 lbs.. What I do is buy heavy clothing which is a little large. I found that if the shirts are a little large they don't constrict as much. Freezing in NJ

Same hear. I never used to wear a coat or sweater I was hot all the time. Now I am freezing my butt off. I am sitting here at the computer with jeans, a sweater and my husbands thick hooded seatshirt and I am still cold. Does anyone know when we warm up again? I keep putting the heat on 90 and my husband and kids are ready to kill me.

I work as a RN in a hospital. I have always been hot hot hot. Now I get so cold that yesterday at work One of the girl went and got me a hot blanket out of the blanket warmer and wrapped me up in it because I was freezing.

BTW, My husband says I am turning into an old person, He says they keep their houses too hot. I say it is just loss of insulation.

I was always hot. Now even with the furnace at 70-72 I often have to wear a sweat shirt and a hood. Weird.
