Question:
Hernia Repair and Mesh Adhering
I had a hernia repaired during my Lap-RNY 3 &1/2 months ago and now I am having discomfort I asked my surgeon and he says its just the mesh adhering to the stomach wall. Has anyone else had this problem? — Linda G. (posted on January 8, 2003)

Hi there.... I had hernia repair with the mesh 2 months ago..My open RNY
was in March of this year...I have been having pains where the edges of the
mesh are so I went in to see my surgeon this week...He stated that it will
take a full year for the mesh to adhere to the stomach...He also stated
that my stomach lining is still weak and anytime I overdo anything in my
daily life that my stomach will be sore...I can feel the sharp edge of the
mesh under my breast... He said to wait a year after the hernia surgery and
if it still is sharp he can trim it down under local anesethia... I hope
this helped a little.... Good luck to you...

I had my hernia repair about 8 months ago, and still have pain from time to
time, especially when I lay on my side. It's the mesh and the screws, if
your surgeon used screws. I can feel the 4 screws into my ribs. :(

Hi,My dad has not had WLS (weight loss surgery) but, he has had (2)two
abdominal hernia repairs. The last one was over a year ago. They both gave
him trouble, He can still feel the mesh constantly pulling inside. His
family practice Dr, just kinda blows it off, when he brings it up. Good
luck to you. Mary
