Question:
PreOp Nerves: how to calm?
I was doing okay and then my surgery, scheduled for tomorrow, was moved from 2:30 pm to 7:30 am. Suddenly I'm a bundle of nerves and feel like throwing up (though all I've had today is my clear liquid diet). Any way to calm down? Will this last all night? — susanje (posted on January 6, 2003)

Posting on this site is the best way. You will do fine. When I woke up I
had very little discomfort, just soreness. I was able to walk around right
away. Think about how scary it would be to stay fat the rest of your life,
and what it might feel like to have a heart attack, or a diabetic
fit...etc. Look at the before and after pictures on this page, and read
some of the positive input on this site. Good luck to you!

I was in your shoes 4 weeks ago! I just had to keep telling myself that I
was doing the right thing. I visualized myself as a thin person. I can't
say it calmed me down, but it took my mind off to a different place for a
few minutes! You are going to be fine! If you weren't scared, you wouldn't
be normal. Your life is about to change. Enjoy the ride. :)

Hey Susan! Congrats on your surgery! And be happy they moved it to 7:30
that means you will go ON TIME. I had a different surgery 1 1/2 yrs ago
and it was scheduled for 2. You name it and it happened every emergency
known to man and it pushed my surgery back to 6. Talk about a bundle of
nerves. They told me at least 5 times that I would be going in the next 30
minutes! You'll be fine and have a wonderful recovery. Best wishes:)!!!
