Question:
After getting approval from Insurance want to change doctor¢ers
I have approval from insurance and I'm set for surgery at BTC. Several times they needed a test done over (once with a cold)and of course each time the surgery was pushed back. Now I have a date of 1/14/03 for pretesting everything (more than 30 days since last complete phycial) and 1/20/03 as surgery date. PROBLEM I am in Milwaukee BTC is in ILL. I started this process in May 02, an am just now getting a date (none of the testing delays showed anything), but now I don't feel comfortable going back and forth to Ill in uncertain Wisconsin weather. Trip on 1/14 test, 1/20 surgery, 2weeks after, 2weeks after that and 4 weeks for checkup. This would have been ok in better weather, but now my fear of the highway is keeping me up at night. Does/has anyone out there had this problem and what did you run into as far as getting all your info to another dr and insurance. Please send comments even if you think I'm being a baby. billie — billie H. (posted on January 4, 2003)

Boy, I wouldn't do anything to delay my surgery. I wish it was tomorrow.
As I see it the two most important dates are your testing and the surgery.
The others can be reschuled. Living in upstate New York I understand your
dilemma. But it doesn't snow all the time. Keep close watch on
weather.com and if necessary leave earlier and stay in motel or take other
transportation. Plane, train, bus or have friend drive.

I live in Milwaukee and know several doctors in this area.
If you would like to contact me, please do so. Be aware that starting over
with a new doctor will delay you future. There are some great doctors
right here.

For various reasons which are explained on my profile, I changed doctors
midstream. The approval was actually issued for one doctor but getting it
changed was no big deal. All it took was a fax from the doctor I changed
to.

I'm almost sure it won't be a problem. Jamie A. in CA just ran into a
situation where she had to change right before surgery and was able to just
have the surgeon changed on her approval. The new place moved quickly
because she already had her approval.<p>I am in Oshkosh and grew up
in Milwaukee. I checked with Froedert about surgery and they were 6-8
months out. I am guessing a lot of the MKE surgeons will have that kind of
wait. I am using Raymond Georgen at Theda Clark in Neenah. Since you have
approval I bet you could get a date fairly quickly. I got a date just 4
weeks and a few days after I had approval. My date is Feb 3rd. If you
want to go that route e-mail me and I will give you some contacts and more
info to try and get around their standard process so you could have surgery
soon. I realize Neenah is also a drive but it might be better than BTC in
Ill. Good Luck!
