Hi there, Tommie! I have very thick, curly hair, so I had my Mom make 2
french braids the morning of my surgery, the only problem I had was that it
got all tangled up by day 3, but only my normal hair loss, you know a few
strands here and there. Then it took my Mom 1 hour just to comb out the
tangles. OUCH! Vi. open RNY 9/23/02 down 80 lbs.

i think that you didn't mean like a french braid right? You meant tight
braids. That won't make a difference. The hairloss is from the general
anesthesia in your body, and if you get affected by the anesthesia, then
you will miss a hair cycle regardless of how you styled your hair. I
started losing mine at around 2 months, and now i'm at 3 months post.
There's really nothing we can do but wait for the next hair cycle which is
in 3 months. So whenever you start the hairloss, expect it for 3 months,
before the next hair cycle starts up. :) Good luck on your surgery!
