Question:
I am approaching a 100# loss & now am stuck....
Another gal that has had WLS told me she thought it may have something to do with the -100# and the body wanting to hang onto the rest. Does anyone else have experience with plateaus as you are near/at one hundred pound loss? If so, what did you do to get things moving again? I have been exercising every day for 45 min. , eating well, getting in protein, & vitamins too....I continue to loose in inches-but the scale is not moving-what is going on? — Heather N. Heather, I'm at the -100 pound mark at this time, the scale goes up 1 pound
then down 2, I've stay -100 for about 1 month now, I exercise every other
day, but I've just hit my first real plateau. It really sucks, As I try to
eat better, seeing that I'm dotting all my I's and crossing my T's to stick
with this and use this tool to the max...
It's a little dissapointing to have stopped loosing weight, I have another
40 pounds till goal...
I wonder if like you said the body's just trying to hang onto what's
left....
I was wondering if I went on the adtkins diet no carb/low carb, if that
would jump start it, or even chaning and doing nothing but protien drinks
would jump start the weight loss again. I'll let you know what happens.
Good luck and God bless.

Heather, if you're losing in inches, I wouldn't worry about it at all. You
said you are working out 45 minutes a day. I'm sure you know that muscle
weighs more than fat, so it seems to me you are building muscles. Losing
inches is a good thing and I wouldn't worry at all about what the scale
says. It's how you look and feel that really matters!

I have heard that upping your protein (an extra supplement a day), or
changing the daily calories you take in(less for a few days, then more for
a few days), and increasing water, and changing the workout routine (try 40
minutes one day, 50 the next) can trick the body into continuing the weight
loss. The body often gets scared that it is starving or losing too much
and changes the metabolism to hold on to the rest. Sometimes just varying
the routine helps to kickstart it.
